A native of the Pacific northwest, Brennan grew up in small-town Oregon with a deep faith, appreciation for nature, and profound sense of justice for oppressed peoples. Brennan served in the U.S. Marine Corps and saw combat in Iraq and Afghanistan, ultimately attaining the rank of sergeant before returning home.
After becoming a licensed mental health counselor, Brennan worked with military veterans with PTSD for many years, before finally settling into private practice and university teaching in his home-state.
